This Privacy Policy describes how SpecWise ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and shares information when you use our Shopify application.
Information We Collect
Store Information
When you install our app, we collect:
- Shopify store domain
- Store owner name and email address
- OAuth access tokens required to integrate with your store
Product Information
To provide comparison table functionality, our app accesses:
- Product titles, handles, and featured images
- Product metafields (for reading and writing specification data)
Product specification data you enter is stored in Shopify metafields on your store, not in our database.
Customer Information
We do not collect any personal information from your storefront visitors. The comparison tables displayed on your storefront are read-only and require no customer input, accounts, or tracking.
How We Use Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide the product specification comparison table functionality
- Authenticate and authorize your Shopify store
- Manage your subscription and billing status
- Maintain and improve our services
- Respond to support requests
Data Storage and Security
- Session data (OAuth sessions) is stored in Supabase with encryption at rest
- Product specification data is stored in Shopify metafields on your store
- App settings and table configurations are stored in Shopify shop metafields
- All data transmission uses HTTPS encryption
- We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your data
Third-Party Services
Our app uses the following third-party services:
- Shopify: For app integration, product data access, billing, and metafield storage
- Supabase: For OAuth session database storage
- Netlify: For hosting and CDN services
Each service has its own privacy policy governing their data practices.
Data Retention
- Session data: Retained while your app installation is active
- Product specifications: Stored in Shopify metafields and retained as long as they exist on your store
- Billing data: Managed by Shopify's billing system
Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access: Request information about data we hold related to your store
- Deletion: Request deletion of your store data by uninstalling the app
- Portability: Export your specification data via CSV export (Pro plan) or access it directly through Shopify metafields
Data Deletion
When you uninstall the app:
- Your Shopify OAuth session data is automatically deleted from our database
- Product specification data stored in Shopify metafields remains on your store unless you manually remove it
- No customer data is retained as we do not collect it
Children's Privacy
Our service is not directed to individuals under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last Updated" date.
